IIRC Shakhova now has a much less optimistic view of things.<br /><br />Re permafrost, see <a href="http://nsidc.org/news/press/20110216_permafrost.html" rel="nofollow">here</a>. The key point is that present warming has already committed us to the loss. It adds up to about 50 ppm CO2-eq. by 2100, although that's without accounting for feedbacks or Isaksen's results.
